2015 Collaboration with Grace Eastwood and Sasha Van Melick Brief To create a sustainable design concept for an easy to navigate transport wayfinding system for South Bank Parklands. |
We developed a wayfinding system for pedestrians to easily connect to public transport in the vicinity of the South Bank Parklands in Brisbane. Our concept included a combination of signs, led solar-powered lights, bollards, and interactive kiosks.
A simple three colour palette was chosen that was reasonably bold to attract interest to the system, and also be easily visible within the South Bank setting. Avenir font was selected as it fitted seamlessly into the existing Queensland Transport branding, and it was paired with Calvert, a handwritten typeface co-designed at school with Tim Chant. The proposal would enable easier navigation to and from the parklands, encourage the use of public transport, and reduce the pressure on current infrastructure. |
